Another April has passed, and the Los Angeles Rams are one rookie class fuller. The Rams’ draft class has been pored over for the last week, so it’s time to take a look at some of the players the Rams could have had but instead declined.
Los Angeles Rams fans trust in Les Snead, but the choice to go in one direction over another is always an interesting one when it comes to the NFL Draft.
Did The Los Angeles Rams Mistakenly Pass On These NFL Draft Prospects?
Tight End
Who they chose: Terrance Ferguson
Linebacker/Edge
Who they chose: Josaiah Stewart, Chris Paul Jr.
The Rams went with edge Josaiah Stewart and linebacker Chris Paul Jr. Stewart stunned with a 12.5 sack season as a freshman and an eight sack season in 2024. Paul had 88 tackles in 2024, so both are solid picks.
They skipped Sai’vion Jones (4.5 sacks in 2024), who went to the Denver Broncos at the end of the third round. They also skipped Danny Stutsman, who went 112 overall to the Saints. The Rams could have had either, but went with Stewart in the third round and Paul in the fifth.

Running Back
Who they chose: Jarquez Hunter
The Los Angeles Rams made a somewhat surprising choice by drafting a running back in the fourth round, but they got a potential steal with Jarquez Hunter. However, in a running back class as deep as the Mariana Trench, there were other options.
They could have chosen Ollie Gordon II, who went to the Miami Dolphins in the sixth round. They also could have gotten Cam Ward’s right-hand man, Damien Martinez, who went to the Seahawks in the seventh round. Phil Mafah, who went to the Cowboys in the seventh, was also available. Gordon led the FBS in rushing yards in 2023.

Defensive Tackle
Who they chose: Ty Hamilton
The Rams got a champion coming off his best season by selecting Ty Hamilton in the fifth round. However, they skipped Yahya Black, who joined the Pittsburgh Steelers in the sixth round. Black is also coming off a five-year career but a down season in 2024.
Who they could have drafted: Yahya Black
Wide Receiver
Who they chose: Konata Mumpfield
Not much should be read into the Los Angeles Rams’ seventh-round choice for Konata Mumpfield. They needed some receiving youth, and they got some. However, Mumpfield earned 813 yards and five touchdowns in 2024.
Dominic Lovett, who joined the Lions two picks later in the seventh round, earned 607 yards and six touchdowns in 2024.
